College of Nursing in University of South Alabama

The University of South Alabama (USA) is a public agency, a university at the doctoral level in Mobile, Alabama, USA. It was created by the Legislature in Alabama in 1963 and replaced existing extension programs operated in Mobile by the University of Alabama. When this university was founded, a new concept has been implemented in Alabama for the first time that a public institution of higher education would be created that does not use race as one factor registration. The only place in the state that was really open to this type of policy was the Mobile area. The rich cultural diversity of the Mobile area has made the choice clear.

No other areas of the state were willing to support such a school at this time. Plans for this university have been made since 1956. The university has nine colleges and schools, and includes Alabama second charge of medical schools. The university has an enrollment of over 14,000 students. So far, the University has granted over 62,325 degrees. The University has an annual payroll of $ 245 million (U.S.), with over 5,500 employees and is the largest employer in Mobile, Alabama. It remained one of the fastest growing in Alabama

The USA College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education until June 30, 2011. An independent arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the CCNE was founded in 1996 as an agency devoted exclusively to the accreditation of baccalaureate and graduate degree nursing programs, ensuring their quality and integrity.
