LVN to RN Programs in Angelo State University Department of Nursing

The LVN-RN affiliate program offers accelerated mobility through the curriculum. Unique features of this model include:

  • a 50% decrease in time of completion;
  • demonstration of competency in the areas of Maternal-Child, Pediatric and Mental Health Nursing through examination;
  • didactic content delivered and evaluated through a blending of online and printed study modules;
  • a capstone clinical experience focusing on complex nursing care.

The LVN-RN programs in ASU Department of Nursing offer a combination of online and on-site classes. The transition course is 100% online with lectures, case studies and discussion groups. Upon successful completion of the transition course students will matriculate into the remaining courses held on campus such as Paediatric Nursing, Maternal-Child Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Management, Jurisprudence and Advanced Concepts in Adult Health.

Students who currently work at affiliate hospitals will need to contact their hospital about its specific affiliate agreement with the ASU Department of Nursing. Students who are not currently working at an affiliate hospital must obtain approval at an acute care hospital willing to sign an affiliation agreement and provide an approved clinical preceptor.

Angelo State University

Angelo State University is a public institution, a university located in San Angelo mixed, Texas, USA. She was founded in 1928 as San Angelo College college. In 1958, he became Angelo State College. It awarded its first bachelor's degrees in 1967 and master's degrees in 1969, the same year it took its final name. Angelo State University offers 100 undergraduate programs, 21 graduate programs and a doctoral program. From 2009 enrollment is approximately 6400 students with plans to increase to 10,000 by 2020. Angelo State has been named one of "The 371 Best Colleges 'and' Best in the West" by The Princeton Review in 2010.

The history of university can be traced to 1928 when San Angelo College was established following a municipal election held in 1926. Organised as part of the city school system, the two-year college for many years occupied a site on Oakes Street North near the commercial center of the city.Voters in Tom Green County in 1945 created a County Junior College District and elected the first board of directors. In 1947, the first building was constructed on the university campus today. The university has experienced a rapid transition
